IELTS is the abbreviation for International English Language Testing System. It is the proven English language test recognised globally. It is taken by people who wish to study, work or settle abroad. IELTS is accepted by over 10,000 organisations worldwide as a proof of proficiency in English Language. It tests a candidate on the four skills of the language i.e. Listening, Reading, Writing (LRW) and Speaking.
It is co-owned by British Council, IDP and Cambridge English Language Assessment. The test was started in 1989 and since then has been setting standards for English language proficiency across the globe. There are a total of 1100 test centres across 140 countries.
