How do I get a visa to study in Canada?


In order to study in Canada, all Indian nationals are required to have a Study Permit, issued by the 

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The Canadian visa is called the study permit, which allows you to study and live in Canada. 

To make the visa application process easier and faster, Indian students can apply for a study permit through the Student Direct Stream.

Documents required to make a visa application via Student Direct Stream
·         A letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada
·         A valid passport or travel document
·         A copy of your upfront medical exam confirmation document
·         Proof that you have a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of $10,000
·         Proof that you’ve paid the tuition fees for your first year of study, and
·         Proof that you graduated from a Canadian curriculum high school or a language test form with a minimum band score of at least 6.0 for International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or a score of at least 7 for French Test d’évaluation de français (TEF)
You will also require the following documents:
·         Proof of funds: An evidence to show that you have sufficient money to cover your tuition fees, living expenses and your return transportation ticket.  
·         Letter of explanation: Explaining why you want to study in Canada.
·       
  Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ): international students applying to study in Montreal or in the Province of Quebec require a Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ) issued by the Québec government.
·         Custodian declaration (minors only)
·         Other documents

Where to submit your study permit application
Indian students can apply for the visa via Student Direct Stream, either online or through paper-based mode, but it is highly recommended to apply online for faster processing. If you are making an online application, be sure to apply a minimum of three months ahead of your proposed travelling date.

Once your visa is approved, your passport will have visitor visa stamped on it and you will also receive a Port of Entry or introduction letter. You need to keep these documents safe, you will need to show them during entry in Canada.
